Yoga is a wonderful activity that helps adults stay in shape physically and mentally. The techniques that are used help relax us and help reduce stress from our everyday lives. But yoga isn’t only for adults—it’s a great activity for our children too!

Wai Lana, who is host of the PBS series Wai Lana Yoga, has designed a yoga kit that is perfect for children ages 3-8. The “Little Yogis Kit” includes a 60-minute video, a child-size foam yoga mat, a poster showing various simple asana poses and stretches, and a colorful tote bag with a shoulder strap.

The video begins with a few questions from children about yoga, which are answered by Wai Lana. Songs and cartoons are then shown with the name of a yoga pose, and young children are shown practicing different poses with Wai Lana as she narrates. Each pose begins with a little cartoon and the name of the pose.

The foam mat is the perfect size (1/8″H x 24″W x 60″L) for children to practice yoga on, and it is very lightweight and durable. The accompanying tote bag with shoulder strap has a place for your child to carry the video (or maybe a few snacks :), mat, and poster and bring them wherever they wish to practice yoga.

MyParenTime.com highly recommends this kit—the video is calming, shows children doing easy yoga poses, and will help your child keep in shape. The mat, which rolls up, is lightweight and portable, and fits nicely into the clear tote bag. The poster is nice—it shows 21 illustrations of children doing the poses that were on the video. All together, this kit makes a wonderful product for your own child or a gift for someone you care about :).
